I chose DB because there was no waitlist, they provide more support and care than in Australia, it was an opportunity to have a holiday too.
How does it feel to be a lot lighter?
Being healthy is amazing. I have more energy, self-confidence, and can fit into nice clothes.
Any tips to manage to lose so much weight?
Tips to lose weight are to be patient, do research, network and build good support around you. Address the reasons why you put on weight.
How's your life changed after having weight loss surgery?
Since surgery, I have been promoted at work several times. I have the energy to be active and do things I would never consider doing before. Food is still important to me, but I’m not thinking about it 24/7. I’m happier and my loved ones love that I’m a happier and healthier version of me!
How was your experience with a hospital, your surgeon, and nurses?
My hospital experience was way better than I ever thought it would be - so organized, clean, comfortable, and kind. The doctor was brilliant and nurses were amazing. Can’t talk highly enough of them.
Any fun/impressive moments in Thailand you want to share?
Fun moments were meeting all the people having surgery alongside me, being social, supporting each other and seeing my partner exploring Bangkok while I recovered, and hearing all about his adventures.
What would you tell people who're still deciding on their weight loss surgery?
I would tell people, do your research, compare what is on offer, and work out what’s best for you. My experience from first contact with DB was nothing but professional, caring, supportive and respectful. I don’t regret going to Thailand and would make the same choice now if I was in that position.
