"Choosing to love myself has been a journey of strength and courage. In September 2023, I traveled alone to Thailand for a gastric sleeve surgery with @destinationbeautysurgery. It may sound crazy, but this is me—I am all or nothing. I have never been afraid of taking risks and making changes. Sixteen years ago, I moved to the other side of the world leaving a whole life behind with less than $2k on my bank account and no English skills.
I know I am not perfect, and I never wanted to be. I still have much to learn and work on, but today, I am incredibly proud of myself for taking this step. I am not ashamed of getting the help I needed; In fact I am so f*cking proud that I’ve asked for help before it was too late.
If you’ve battled obesity, you know the struggle—it’s sad, discouraging, depressing and unhealthy. I wasn’t myself, but now I am coming back to me and I feel so grateful to be here, I am different and I am learning how to love myself again. This journey has reminded me that loving myself is the foundation for loving others and to my happiness and I am thankful for my strength and courage to make the changes I needed.
