Why did he decide to have weight loss surgery in Thailand ?
Coming into the experience, I didn’t know what to expect. I had done very little research into surgery abroad. I had been on the waiting list in Australia for 3 years and was told it would be another 2 years before it would be my turn on the waiting list. At 30 years old and 175kg, my health was terrible and I knew I needed to do something if I wanted to see my 4 young children grow up. From the initial phone call with Mira at Destination Beauty I felt supported, reassured and it was never an inconvenience for Mira to answer my many questions. The process was so simple and I was supported throughout the whole process. On arrival into Bangkok everyone from the driver who picked me up from the airport, the hotel staff and the amazing hospital staff, everyone showed such care and attentiveness. I met fellow Aussies & Kiwi’s who were having the same surgery and we had our own support group which I’m sure has turned into lifelong friendships!

How does it feel to be a lot lighter ?
"Words cannot explain it! I used to count down the work hours for the weekends to start to then sit in the lounge for two days because I didn’t have the energy to do anything. I started to see my bad habits show in my children and that was heartbreaking, I didn’t want them to end up like me. Since my surgery we regularly go camping, fishing, go on family walks and all enjoy a healthier and active lifestyle. I don’t count down to the weekend and waste it on the couch anymore. I have since purchased an older 4WD which I’m in the process of doing up ready for some more fun and adventures. Due to my size, I let so many opportunities with my family pass me by, I’m sure making up for it now!" - Ashley -
